Guided walk at Rullion Green Wood

Join Community Ranger, Julie Wilson and Academic Manager, Dr Annie Yang for a guided visit to Rullion Green Wood, in the Pentland Hills Regional Park, where the University is creating new woodland to sequester carbon and increase biodiversity as part of the Forest and Peatland Programme.During this visit you will learn more about our woodland creation aims, community engagement and opportunities for learning, teaching and research. This will be a guided visit and we will be walking around some different areas at Rullion Green.

We will provide transport leaving from High School Yards, Infirmary Street, Edinburgh at 9am and you will return to High School Yards around 1pm.

Attendees should bring appropriate outdoor clothing and layers, for the forecasted weather. You should wear sturdy footwear, walking boots with ankle support are ideal. You may also want to bring drinking water, hot drinks, snacks / packed lunch and walking poles if you usually use them. We will be walking on a variety of terrain including surfaced paths, grassy paths and rough / uneven ground. The site is on a hillside so it will involve walking uphill and downhill. Toilet facilities are available at Flotterstone Car Park, where we will start our visit.

All activities are risk assessed and the Community Ranger will provide first aid cover.
