Greenhouse gas emissions from our operations
To analyse the University's emissions, it is important to understand emission scopes. "Scope 1" describes the direct emissions created by the University's activities on campus, such as gas heating. "Scope 2" describes the emissions from purchased electricity that is generated externally by utility companies. "Scope 3" emissions are those generated through our supply chains, including the embodied carbon of our buildings, the goods and services the University purchases, and student and staff commuting.
