To make the greatest impact the University of Edinburgh has identified four key areas through its Strategy 2030, each shaped by its values. Social and Civic Responsibility is one of those four key areas.

The University communicates progress against its social and civic responsibility commitments through this report every year.

The University is taking world-leading climate action to be net zero carbon by 2040.

Building on our values and our commitment to having a positive impact on our local and global community, we are working to ensure that students from a wide range of diverse backgrounds thrive and feel a sense of belonging.

Our Community Plan 2020-2025 sets out 32 practical commitments the University of Edinburgh is making to our local communities.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals, part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, were adopted by the United Nations and world leaders in 2015.

The University and Students' Association signed the Sustainable Development Goals Accord in 2017.
