We’re pleased to offer several different types of training for staff to learn more about social responsibility, sustainability and climate change to enable them to make positive improvements in their workplace and also in their lives. Image Be Sustainable Being sustainable can mean many different things - from reducing the energy you use and the amount of waste you create, to choosing a less polluting mode of transport and buying ethically-sourced goods. These topics and others are covered in “Be Sustainable”, a short online course we're revamping this Summer that offers an introduction to what sustainability means, why it's important, and how staff can improve the sustainability of their place of work. If you've taken Be Sustainable before, we encourage you to still register for the new course which has lots of up-to-date facts and tips and lets you create a personalised action plan. Complete 'Be Sustainable' Image Be Sustainable Advanced “Be Sustainable Advanced” is for staff who want a more in-depth understanding of social responsibility and sustainability and how to make positive changes in the workplace and at home. This pilot course, beginning in October 2018, is a mixture of online and classroom-based learning, and is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to make sustainability part of their professional development. The course comprises of six one-hour online modules over twelve weeks, and two two-hour classroom sessions on 9th October 2018 from 09:30 - 12:00 and 29th January 2019 from 09:30 - 12:00. The course has been developed in partnership with Learning for Sustainability Scotland incorporating expertise and resources from across the University of Edinburgh. Sign up for 'Be Sustainable Advanced' Image Modern Slavery Awareness training What is modern slavery and how can we spot the risks? This online course will explain why modern slavery can still occur in supply chains and the steps you can take to ensure the goods and services you purchase are slavery-free. The course takes less than 30 minutes to complete and we encourage all staff to take it to help the University uphold its zero tolerance approach to slavery.
