Outdoor learning at the University's Forest and Peatlands

Join this two part meeting bringing together the community of practice for challenge and experiential learning and the community of practice for teaching climate and sustainability. Hear from Annie Yang, Academic Manager on the University's Forest and Peatlands Project, about opportunities for teaching via field trips to our 891 hectares of land near Edinburgh.

Part one will be a 75 minute hybrid workshop on central campus. The second part will be a trip to one of the nearby forest restoration sites, Rullion Green, to hear from community ranger Julie Wilson about the kind of learning that can take place. You are welcome to join for either or both parts.

All transport is provided from ECCI but attendees are welcome to make their own way there if required. There is a public car park on site. We will have a break for lunch between part one and two before the bus where attendees should find their own lunch. As with any field trip we must warn participants to prepare for any weather with appropriate clothing and footwear. There will be a small amount of hill walking on paths (about 15 minutes each way) required to reach the tree planting sites so please consider ability when signing up for this event.
